Q: So, what is SkyTubeLive exactly?

A: SkyTubeLive is the site for live streaming drone videos.

Q: Can't I do that already?

A: Our app allows you to easily stream from the latest DJI platforms via your Android device, a capability that does not currently exist (we fully intend to support any and all platforms as we move forward with development). Also videos are organized by location and easily searchable by map, making it extremely easy to find content of interest. Providing this content in this organized format and centralized location, completely open and available to the general public, will greatly enhance their usefulness for everyone.

Q: Aren't drones scary and mostly for spying on people?

A: Drones can be used for all sorts of purposes. We believe that making this content publicly available will both demonstrate and promote responsible behavior by drone operators and help to counter the hysteria in the media and general public about their capabilities and potential abuses.

Q: So how does this work?

A: There's some basic instructions on the Help page. Also please keep checking this site as we continue to add functionality and do not hesitate to contact us.

Basically users can request video they would like to see, drone operators can stream live video they collect, and the two different groups can interact through a transparent process of bids, reviews, etc., to foster the growth of the drone community and aerial imagery industry.

Users are able to make monetary offers based on videos they would like to see, and based on the quality of the videos that are posted. This will enable drone operators to better determine what sort of content is in demand and turn the massive number of consumer drones out there into valuable commodities. (Hmm. If only there were some famous analogous capability out there somewhere, so that we could call ourselves "The for Drones." Hmm.)

The payment process is not yet implemented, though the infrastructure is there. Please feel free to make honest assessments of how much you would be willing to pay for a requested video, and for posted content as well! This will allow us and our users and the entire drone community assess the demand out there for various sorts of content, so we can build the best possible product for everyone's benefit.

Q: So what do I need to be able to stream video?

A: As of right now, you need to have a recent DJI platform--Phantom 3 or Inspire, and an Android device to run the SkyTubeLive app. Please contact us if you would like to be a beta tester. We will be adding support for iOS as well as other drone platforms in the future. If you have specific hardware requests or inputs, again please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q: What about the FAA rules?

A: Yeah, at the moment Americans should probably know about Section 333.
